This Magic Moment

It took a while to get the screen cap album up from Tom Glavine’s exciting 300th win, but it’s worth a look-see. Homeboy actually showed emotion! For Tom, this smile is the equivalent of jumping up and down and screaming "Hallelujah!!"

Picture_028_2Really, I couldn’t be happier for Glav, especially because all the well-wishers seem so genuine. You gotta love Tommy, and I’m proud to have him on our team.

Also, I’m thrilled that Paul Lo Duca got to play. Initially, Willie had him out of the lineup, and I was concerned. Do we really want a resentful Lo Duca? The guy who always gives 110% to fight for his team and his manager? Bad blood between Paulie and Willie would have worried me. So yay for Duc. Here’s the moment when he first got to congratulate his compadre Tom:

If you haven’t yet checked out the Metsblog round-up of 300th coverage, check out these great articles–including the story of how Tom was up all night with his sick son before his start. And here are the touching congratulatory messages from peers. Thanks for that, Metsblog boys!

Hee. Here’s a pic of Christine Glavine at the beginning of the game. I like to think she’s pointing to our team, shouting "Hey you! Score my husband some dang runs!" How nice that our boys listened :)

Alright, now I’m going to the sappy moments. Come on–tell me you’re not touched by Glavine hugging his family on the field. Grasping his wife. Tousling his little kid’s hair.

Next time in Cooperstown, buddy.
