Ok, if you’ve been reading this here blog for a while, you know I’ve got one deep-seeded cultural superstition: The Evil Eye. Well, the old EE reared its ugly head in our final game against Pittsburgh. Gary and Keith were discussing the on-field action as if a win were an inevitability. Five runs ahead! Against the *******’ Pirates! How could we lose? Yeah, that’s when the Eye’s going to come in and start some mischief.
So when the series against the last-place Nationals came along next, I knew I’d only be satisfied with a sweep. And then, when it started to happen, I got happy. Forgetting, of course, that the Evil Eye has our number this season. So he went and took away Damion Easley. Man, that’s annoying. Not only a bad sprain, but ligament damage too.
Let’s just say I don’t dare look too forward to Endy Chavez’s imminent return.
So, do you think this dude had a date that night with the Fifty Foot Woman?
On a completely different note, my former favorte Met Cliff Floyd’s father passed away this weekend, and I just want to say I’m so sorry, Cliffy. I bet many, many Mets fans send out their condolences and keep you in their hearts during this tough time.
