Rally Towel Reyes

Man, what an exciting game last night against the Padres. If only it had ended in a win! Still, it could be a productive loss–the team continues to fight.

But for now, a moment of rally Reyes revelry. After scoring the tying run in the 9th, Jose Reyes had a bit of fun with Ruben Gotay:

I’ll say I’m very glad Delgado didn’t strike out after Trevor Hoffman intentionally walked Beltran. I will take a walk from a batter in a slump. Come on, Carlos D. Get comfortable again. We need you.

Finally, I’ll leave you with this adorable Little Mazz bobblehead, given out earlier this week at Keyspan Park in Coney Island. The "L" on Little Lee Mazzilli’s batting helmet stands for Lincoln High School, his alma mater. Shout out here to my mom and grandma–also Lincoln High graduates. Mom grew up across the street from her and Mazz’s high school. Go Lincoln, and go Brooklyn!

Just a quickie

A message to a certain reliever:

Picture_403Why is there a giant blue diaphragm traipsing around RFK Stadium? And why does it have a face and a bow-tie? Let’s chalk it up to things that make you go "Hmmmm…"

Evil_eye_3Ok, if you’ve been reading this here blog for a while, you know I’ve got one deep-seeded cultural superstition: The Evil Eye. Well, the old EE reared its ugly head in our final game against Pittsburgh. Gary and Keith were discussing the on-field action as if a win were an inevitability. Five runs ahead! Against the *******’ Pirates! How could we lose? Yeah, that’s when the Eye’s going to come in and start some mischief.

So when the series against the last-place Nationals came along next, I knew I’d only be satisfied with a sweep. And then, when it started to happen, I got happy. Forgetting, of course, that the Evil Eye has our number this season. So he went and took away Damion Easley. Man, that’s annoying. Not only a bad sprain, but ligament damage too.

Let’s just say I don’t dare look too forward to Endy Chavez’s imminent return.

So, do you think this dude had a date that night with the Fifty Foot Woman?

Picture_404_1 On a completely different note, my former favorte Met Cliff Floyd’s father passed away this weekend, and I just want to say I’m so sorry, Cliffy. I bet many, many Mets fans send out their condolences and keep you in their hearts during this tough time.
